Cleaning rules

A short overview of how the meetinghouse cleaning works. Some points are repeated in the FAQ — they are gathered here so you have everything in one place.

How the cleaning works

Several groups take turns cleaning the meetinghouse — each group is on duty for one week. The more groups take part, the less often each one comes around.

Each group is divided into five teams (A–E). A team is usually two families or individuals who are in touch and coordinate together. Each team cleans one of the five cleaning areas.

When to come

During your week, come whenever suits you — you do not have to come together as a whole group or team, and there is no fixed timetable within the week.

Choosing a cleaning area

Areas are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. In the cleaning room on the lower and upper floor there is a sheet where everyone writes their name and the area they cleaned — that tells you what is already done.

Pick any area that has not been cleaned yet. If only one area is left, you clean that one (there is nothing left to choose from).

In the cleaning rooms you will also find cleaning plans and work procedures, including how to use the cleaning products. To protect all the materials, please do not use any products other than those prescribed, and follow the prescribed procedures. That is the only way we keep the materials we use (furniture, floors, upholstery, tiling) in good condition.

Getting into the building

Access is protected by two codes. You receive the current codes by e-mail or text before the week your group is on duty — for security reasons we do not publish them here.

  • Gate: enter the gate code and confirm with the hash key (#). The gate will open.
  • Key: go to the bin room (around the corner to the left of the main entrance — the outside door is always open). On the right-hand wall is a black lock holding a key. Place your finger on the panel just above the round sensor and hold it there for a moment — the keypad lights up. Then enter the PIN and confirm with the tick (✓). The lock opens and you take out the key.
  • Use the key to open the side (emergency) door nearest the bin room — the key does not work on the main door.
  1. Entrance to the bin room around the corner to the left of the main entrance

1The bin room is around the corner to the left of the main entrance (arrow). The outside door is always open.

  2. Finger held on the panel just above the round sensor of the lock

2Place your finger on the panel just above the round sensor and hold — the keypad lights up. No need to press hard.

  3. Lit keypad of the lock while entering the PIN

3On the lit keypad, enter the PIN and confirm with the tick (✓). Then take out the key.

After cleaning

  • Do not lock the emergency door — just pull it shut behind you (it has a handle; no need to lock it).
  • Return the key to the lock in the bin room and close it with the same PIN you used to open it.
  • On the sheet in the cleaning room, write your name and the area you cleaned, and sign it.

Fridge and freezer

  • No food should stay in the fridge or freezer for longer than a week.
  • Everything must be labelled — whose it is and how long it will stay.
  • Throw away unlabelled food immediately (do not ask anyone), wipe out the fridge and bin the leftovers.
  • Labelled food with a date that has not passed can stay. Throw away anything expired.
  • If food is in a nice dish or container, throw away the food, wash the dish and leave it in lost and found.

Lost and found

By the lost-and-found box by the cloakroom in the hall there are labels and a pen. When you find something during cleaning that does not belong in the chapel, write the date on a label and add it to the item. Anything left longer than a month is thrown away.

If you cannot come

It is your responsibility to arrange a substitute. Reach out first to your team, then to your group, and if needed to anyone else in the ward. Let them know in good time and agree on cover.

Something missing, broken, or need help?

There is no dedicated cleaning leader. If something needs restocking or fixing, or you need help, write to info@uklidkaple.cz or contact the coordinator for the stake centre: Jitka Maršíková, tel. 603 561 545, jitka.marsikova@gmail.com.
